After last weeks win in Texas, Jordan Spieth has turned his game completely around and will surely be inspired to be in the mix and not let previous Amen corner nightmares block his focus. Dustin Johnson will be trying to regain the green jacket. It only seems like Tiger put it on his shoulders five minutes ago.DJ has not been at his best so far this year, yet there is no doubting his desire to hang onto that jacket. Justin Thomas Patrick Reed, Bryson, even Finau maybe? Koepka if the knee holds up? As for the overseas, Sungjae Im could be the one to choose. Lee Westwood could he finally win that elusive first major he so dearly covets? Will Rory's changes get him into contention? Will new dad Jon Rahm find his putting touch?
These may be considered outsiders now but perhaps Casey, Rose and Garcia could give you a run for any money. All three get inspired driving down Magnolia Lane into the property. It probably is classed as well and truly open this year. Experience will surely count come Sunday on the famous back nine and horses for the courses spring to mind. Who fits that role perfectly at this moment? One Jordan Spieth, incredible short game high octane level of enthusiasm and on a roll from his win last week. What might be just as interesting for the first two days is how might Bernhard Langer fair? Can the German maestro make the cut once again this year against players who could be his grandchildren! Or like who will be the big surprise as Dylan Frittelli was last year. How about being a spectator this year? The perfect vantage points on every hole. Less than 12,000 people will be there to add the atmosphere of considerably more.

A Masters Story A little story that many of you may not have heard from The Masters from days gone by. British Ryder Cup player, Maurice Bembridge (Click here to see Maurice Bembridge) played in the 1974 event when even getting to Augusta was not easy. Known as a bit of a cobbler of a score rather than a flusher, he made the cut and had another unremarkable third round.73,74,72.Two under at the turn on Sunday, he completed the back nine in 30 shots to equal the best score of 64 by Lloyd Mangrum and Jack Nicklaus. Bembridge was the first to ever be round in 6 under on the famed back nine and here are some of the clubs he hit. The course was also considerably shorter than today's monster with many holes easily 50 yards shorter than today's layout. Check out the clubs he used. No10 - 3 iron off the tee to catch the slope, 3 iron into the green, 12 foot birdie putt No 11 - driver to the top of the hill, iron into the front part of the green, single putt from 30 feet that went in like an express train, birdie No 12 - 4 iron to 10 foot, single putt birdie No 13 -Driver, chased a snake away from his ball on the fairway with his 2 iron, before hitting it on the green for a two putt birdie, No14 - Driver, hit the flag with his second but two putted for par No15- Driver, lay up for a full sand iron to 3 foot and a single putt. No16- Holed an 8 foot putt for a par No17 -Driver, six iron over the green, pitched back and saved par from15 feet. No18-Driver,six iron that scooted forward off the back of the bunker and 35 foot birdie to finish. Just 11 putts required. The exemptions were top 24 back then and he ended up in the top ten. On packing to rush to the airport, the Augusta committee needed him to do some interviews, which he tried to decline or miss his flight. They insisted, He had to but ended getting a private jet with the top brass of CBS tv to New York for a connecting flight home. He had never been on a private jet or had the use of a limousine until that day. How things have changed for today's elite players. A much longer even more manicured course, personal private cars for the event and many now have their own private jets to travel in.
