When your feeling glum... Just watch this European Tour video and find out that many of the new players DO have a sense of humour. The latest video from youtube on the European Tours angry golfers and yes you might be surprised who is included. Love him or loathe him, Tyrell is(as expected)one of the stars of this episode...It made me laugh and got me thinking who I might have been sitting next to, had I been put in that anger management session when I played? My good friend Jamie Spence was top of the list.stick up your thumb peeps! |

I`m certain we would all include President Trump in the "Angry" meeting after last weeks embarrassing episode of leaving Town before the inauguration of the new President. Only DT would refuse the President-elect a private flight from his home in Delaware to Washington and then disappear to Florida before the event started. I can only imagine what both parties were saying on these issues. Amazingly the inauguration ran incredibly smoothly with Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks performing to show America's diverse unification has begun to rebuild. President Biden got up to give his opening speech as President 19 minutes before he was actually meant to be formally greeted as The President. Just goes to prove a point that America was glad to see the back of DT after all, they couldn't wait to get out with the old and in with the even older! There could be one problem in this new office though, who would now be called The "first lady" officially after, Kamala Harris was sworn in as The first woman Vice President in America's history? Traditionally it is The Presidents wife. Could that change too? What does, Kamala's husband get called then ?"The Second man" or a whole new spin on the phrase "The Other Man".
Thank you for all the responses to recent newsletters asking about new products. Unfortunately, we will only be taking delivery once we can open again. Just a reminder of what club you can expect to see in-store, Callaway, PING, Taylormade, Titleist, Mizuno, Cleveland and Lynx. All have the Tour players excited so I hope you won't be disappointed when you compare them to your own. Numerous players have switched to the new products already, with a very little testing and over 40% of the field in Abu Dhabi were using the Callaway Speed model. When we get out of lockdown it's going be a very exciting year ahead.
After last weeks thought-provoking,let's take an area that many suffer with and perhaps help you to score lower.
The tee shot. How many of you hit less than 50 % fairways in a round? Especially the first few holes? Would you be better off early in the round using something to boost confidence and keep your scoring under control? Perhaps a fairway wood or even a hybrid? Sacrifice some distance for the short stuff until your body is warmed up. An early bogey or two won't be card wreckers and keep you in a positive frame of mind, especially if they are difficult 'shot holes' unlike wide drives and provisionals might. Bear it in mind when you step back on the course. Tour players build a score through the round, they make decisions to avoid wasting shots. Imagine how many would be in the anger management class if they didn`t? Click here and get in touch to let me know your thoughts. |
Hatton outshines McIlroy Rory McIlroy opened the new European Tour season in an all-too-familiar fashion last weekend. The Northern Irishman was part of a fascinating tug-of-war battle with Tyrrell Hatton at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, only to be completely outplayed by Hatton during the final 18 holes.Leading after round one and looking his majestic best,Rory was putting his new SIm2 driver to good use, constantly hammering drives over 320 yards, a thing of beauty. But as Rory does, his wedge play and occasional lapses on short putts took effect on Sunday mainly due to the pressure imparted by his playing companion,Hatton, who after the win leap frogs McIlroy into 5th place on the World rankings.Tyrell is becoming a feared competitor these days.He has served his apprenticeship and has a technique and power( he was playing from beside Rory all weekend)that might just be truly ready to challenge regularly for Major honours.Yes he is still a ticking time bomb but he needs that to keep him "free" and not tighten up under pressure.Once again he proved to everyone he is in control of his golf and learning to control his fury.I might actually be beginning to enjoy watching him play.Didn't think I'd ever say that... Alongside Europe's tour getting under way,the Ladies LPGA got off to a near historical chapter with eventual winner Jessica Korda shooting a 60 in the third round. She joined a very short list of ladies to have achieved that feat.Jess went on to win in a playoff with one of America's other hot golfers,Danielle Kang. And in Hawaii on the Seniors Tour,Darren Clarke opened the season with a win too.The Ryder Cup stars win was only his second since his Open win in 2011.I'm sure all the breweries Hawaii were rubbing their hands together Sunday afternoon, as "the big man" knows how to celebrate a good win. Just about every player’s bag was brimming with new, exciting-looking equipment; both Hatton and McIlroy heading into battle with brand-new drivers and fairway woods from their respective brands. They certainly put them to good use. Did you catch a glimpse of any clubs that got your blood pumping? Keep your eyes peeled, because we’ve got plenty on the way as I mentioned. And, if you can’t wait, get in touch below. |
