Another World Number 1 Jon Rahm’s stint at the top of the rankings lasted just a single week. All eyes were on Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson to challenge the Spaniard for that top-of-the-world spot. But it was Justin Thomas, slipping under the radar, who reclaimed it with a win at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. If Thomas had gone under the radar beforehand, he certainly didn’t on Sunday. A combination of pink trousers and outstanding golf saw the 27-year-old steal the show, coming from four shots behind overnight leader Brendon Todd, he overtook the likes of Koepka and Rickie Fowler with a 5-under 65 at TPC Southwind. He is only the third person in golfing history to win 13 PGA Tour titles by this age. Who were the others? Of course, Jack and Tiger With so many golfers battling out at the top of the rankings, we want to know how you think is most likely to make a Tiger-esque run and dominate the game in the next decade. Click the button below to have your say on our website poll. This week sees the first Major of the year at Harding Park Golf Club in San Francisco, California. Belated, of course, but I for one am looking forward to seeing the best players in the world battle it out for the Wannamaker Trophy. Being in California, the draw could be all-important on the unpredictable to anna greens due to the inconsistency that comes in the afternoons. Who will feature on Sunday? It is tough to look past Justin Thomas, the latest World No 1 who is looking to go back to back wins again and back to form man, Brooks Koepka. For a bit of an outsider, perhaps look at Shane Lowry who enjoys a tough course and the challenges it brings. There are numerous other storylines this week such as can Jordan Spieth complete the personal slam? Can Tiger make it Major No 16? Can Rory find his game for 72 holes? Will Phil the 50-year-old thrill once again? He is in his home state and could be the ridiculous outsider we should have all backed come Sunday night! It will be great to watch if nothing else.
