A Warm Welcome

Some of you may well have already met our new member of staff, Harry Wood. For those who have yet to, no he is not a relative just has a good golfing name.

Harry is a fine player with a one handicap, member of both Orsett and Boyce Hill.

He currently represents the County under 18s and a member of the Boyce Hill Thornton Cup plate winning team this season.

Get shorty

Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal held on to win the Alfred Dunhill Championship by a single shot from Joel Sjoholm despite a final round 3-over-75.

However, that was not the story making the headlines.

For the first time on the European Tour, the competing players were allowed to wear shorts during the tournament due to the sweltering temperatures at Leopard Creek, South Africa.

Shorts had previously been restricted to just practice rounds and pro-ams across the board but discussions between players, European Tour CEO Keith Pelley, and tournament host Johann Rupert led to the decision to relax the rules - but for this tournament only!

How times have changed

We've got a little task for you. Next time you're down the club on a busy day, have a look around and count how many golfers are using an electric trolley compared to those that aren't. We think the number might surprise you...
