Double Delight Spaniard Jon Rahm added to his already glittering CV by adding a Dubai double to it last week. Big Jon still only 25, won both the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai from fast finishing , Tommy Fleetwood with a closing birdie on the 72nd hole. A mere $5 million big ones for the two wins made Rahm an extremely very happy man as well. Standing on the 18th tee after a three putt and losing a 6 shot lead, it could have led to the Spaniard's temper getting the better of him. Being one of the faster players on Tour he avoided dwelling on the on it and reminded himself of something Jack Nicklaus once said. Rahm calmly got on with making a winning birdie from the greenside bunker, to avoid a playoff with Fleetwood. Rahm became only the second Spaniard to win the Order of Merit after the Late, great Seve Ballesteros. Not bad for three years on Tour. Fleetwood finished runner up in the Race to Dubai and after also passing leader, Bernd Wiesberger from Austria. Imagine if he had held on, what a boost it would have been for golf in a Country not really associated with the game. There is plenty to look back on for the European season. Shane Lowry’s, breakthrough Open win, Rory’s newfound consistency, the further emergence of Matt Wallace and Tyrell Hatton and with the likes of Macintyre, Wiesberger, Deitry, Schwab, Perez et al,the new face of The European Tour is evolving.
