The Race Is On After an amazing final round that included 3 eagles Tommy "one of the lads" Fleetwood stole the Nedbank Tour event from the field last week in a playoff with Marcus Kinault. It doesn`t seem to matter how difficult or long the courses are, these stars just keep going low. Earlier in the week, Louis Oosthuizen opened with a 63 much to the pleasure of the South African home fans. Sadly it didn`t materialise into a win. Fleetwood himself, now has a chance to win the Race to Dubai again and is glad he is playing like we all know he can. Due to the results in South Africa, it means Rory McIlroy can no longer be a dual Tour winner as he has too much to do. Bernd Weisburger is still top of the tree and his to lose. With the likes of Fleetwood and Shane Lowry breathing down his neck, the Earth course will no doubt be a fun packed birdie fest as the players try to win. McIlroy himself will have a "new" caddie on board for the week , another of his friends as regular caddie Harry Diamond has been "given" time off after the birth of his new baby daughter. On the PGA Tour at the Myakoba Classic in Mexico, the scene of Matt Kuchars downturn in public appeal from last year. Brendon Todd doubled his Tour wins and his bank account in an amazing run of golf. Two wins in a row, Todd has revamped his game under Aussie ex PGA Tour player Bradley Hughes. 44 under par for his last 8 rounds of golf, compare that to a streak he had a few years ago when in total despair, 55 over par for a similar 8 rounds, then you can understand what a change in fortune his golf has taken. He can look forward to a schedule that includes The Masters, PGA Championship plus other lucrative tournaments on the PGA Tour he may not have got in for the next 2 years. Why have I mentioned Todd, apart from scoring so low? Well, this sort of thing can happen to us all. Yet he went and did something about it, sought advice, worked on his game and hey presto a very happy Mrs Todd! Of course it may not be quite like that for ourselves but who wants to continually play below their potential?
