Also as Captain of the American Presidents Cup team and without injured Dustin Johnson and possibly Brooks Koepka he is definitely in the frame to become the second playing Captain in the event should he wish to. Woods playing would swell the galleries comfortably and he could limit his matches. Watch this space, you just never know with Tiger.
One Week Can Change It All It was ”Squeaky bum" time last week at the Portuguese Masters in Villamora. With this being the last official event for European Tour players to keep their playing privileges for 2020 it had stress like only one other event, Tour School. All those players around the "bubble" of 115th place seemed to suddenly find their game. Ollie Fisher from Essex needed to make the cut to be safe. He led the event after two days. Justin Walters was another who needed a big finish and with three holes to go a win looked likely but two bogies later the win had slipped through his fingers but his playing rights were safe. Hayden Porteus bogied three of his last 5 holes to squeeze in. Niklas Lemke, birdied 4 of his last 5 holes to not make enough and miss by one place! In the end, Steven Brown, who had barely broke 70 all year played his way to the top of the field with calm committed play. Safe from the dreaded Tour School, he moved up nearly 100 places to get into the Rolex Series event in Turkey next week! How one week on Tour can change your career path completely.
