Mr consistent Paul Casey Paul Casey took his career wins this week to 16 as he went on to win the 2019 Porsche Open in Hamburg by one shot from fellow Brit Robert Macintyre. Green Eagles GC where the tournament was held this past week is one of the longest courses on the European Tour rota coming in at a staggering 7,544 yards with par 5's over 660 yards long. To put into context how far that Par 5 really is, that's playing our 7th and the 8th combined and to make it even more amazing the boys on tour were hitting long irons into the green for there second shot! Again there was a rules issue that many of us would never actually be aware of. Caseys putt struck a mini caterpillar walking across his line which deflected the ball slightly. Had he known it was there and used it to his advantage, he would have received a penalty and possibly lost the event. Did you know that this was a penalty?
BMW PGA Championship In a weeks time, the European tour makes its way down to Wentworth for the rejigged schedule of The BMW PGA Championship where a star-studded field is getting brighter. 12 players from the 2018 Ryder Cup are coming to play including 3 of the worlds top 6, McIlroy, Rose and Rahm. Also competing is the USA superstar at the last Ryder Cup Tony Finau along with one of the brightest new talents in the game from Norway Viktor Hovland. With all the changes that have undergone at Wentworth and the line up there, it's going to give the event the respect it deserves.
Solheim Cup It's the Solheim Cup this weekend. Europes finest ladies vs. USA's best at Gleneagles. America are favourites, so home support may well be invaluable to Europes team. This match has a habit of being a little bit feisty and with some controversy such as putts not conceded being picked up and playing out of turn being called. It could be well worth a watch of it stays close.
