What about the weekend’s sport though? Could much have surpassed The World Cup cricket final on Sunday? It was actually a shame someone had to lose, but at least a British team won a shoot out! The game had everything including amazing bowling, batting, fielding and a couple of huge pieces of fortune which gave England a life line that they more than made the most of. A fluky 6 run ball, a fielder stepping on the boundary rope for another six instead of being caught and a super over to finish that still ended in a tie and was won on a count back! Not to be outdone at the same time, the greatest tennis player of all time in the men`s game lost in a thriller on Wimbledon`s Centre court 13-12 in the 5th set to the World No 1. Back and forth the game went between Djokovic and crowd favourite Federer. Both men played some incredible tennis to win each and every point, many have already said it was the best final ever! And on another channel was the British Grand Prix and finally there was some real racing taking place which caused thrills and spills but that`s what racing is all about and not a procession to the end. It was difficult to know what to watch at times and not forgetting the Scottish Open golf at the amazing Renaissance Club, where Andrew "Beef" Johnson made an emotional return to his good form. Being a star may sound and look amazing but being in the public eye is not easy to cope with especially when other things in your life are not perfect. He was caught up in the emotion of his achievement of qualifying for a coveted Open spot when being interviewed and struggled to keep his emotions under control. Just shows these people are human as well. The tournament was decided with a three hole play-off as well, so even more drama. For the ladies, another World Cup is under way with the netball. It’s fast, intense and physical, not what you associate with women`s sport possibly. With the Diamond League meeting in London this weekend is there any room for more sport? |
