Tom and Mike slip on the jacket… Not satisfied with winning one of the Masters sweeps and perhaps inspired by Tiger’s win, Tom Drake played one of his best rounds of golf this season in the inaugural St Georges Day trophy at the weekend. Hot footing around in 42 points off 5 handicap, Tom "The Bomb" as he is known won by 3 points from Rob Percival on 39pts and also the better golfing Twigg brother, Kevin on 38 points. Tom’s golf has definitely had the benefit of driving the ball straighter since his new PING driver has gone in the bag some weeks ago. "Not only did I drive the ball well, I actually putted a little better. The boys I play with know it’s been a bit of a problem recently but this time I did most things right, I just hope I can keep it going now. A good round just gives that bit of confidence you need sometimes. Well done Tom, remember form is temporary and class is permanent! The other winner of the Masters sweep was a very happy but surprised Mike Titcombe. "I like to support the sweepstake events the Pro Shop put on, it’s a bit of fun and added interest but it might be the first that has come my way!" Like a good Grandfather, Mike spent the winnings on some new junior clubs for his Grandson.
