Three in one… This week sees a world first with The European Challenge Tour, Ladies European Tour and Seniors Staysure Tour all competing in the same event. Around 40 players from each Tour will gather in the Jordan Mixed Open, playing from different tees, but same scoreboard and same prize fund. It would be fun to be a fly on the wall after a couple of rounds in both locker rooms. I will post an update next week. With so much golf going on at the minute, the latest WGC event went to Kevin Kisner, not Costner much to my wife`s disappointment when the TV came on! Kisner won the Walter Hagen trophy defeating Matt Kuchar in a forgettable final. Kisner beat "hot" man Franky Molinari when the Italian three putted the last. Kuchar defeated Lucas Bjerreghard on the last to make the final, although Kooooch was involved in "gimmegate" with Sergio Garcia. Garcia, inexplicably picked up a putt without Kuchar verbally conceding it, and Kuchar claimed the hole. The Spaniards toys came out the pram and next thing the match was all over in favour of the American. After his "dispute" over Caddie bonuses earlier in the season, this was the last thing "family man" Kuchar probably needed. Yet a bit like Brexit, half the field would say he was in the right for doing it and the other half would be embarrassed for him. It incensed Garcia enough to lose his cool and get defeated. If someone picked a putt up against you in a match play situation would you claim the hole? On "Tour" the regulation for a "concession" seems to be around 2 feet, this putt was half that! The European Tour was in India last week (ironic) with a welcome return to form for Stephen Gallagher. Well done to him!
