Mark has cause to celebrate... Orsett club member Mark Oughton had a weekend to remember. He braved the 40mph winds on Saturday along with 65 others who entered the weekend stableford and even though he didn`t feature on the scorers radar he managed to hole his tee shot on the 156 yard 3rd hole. This was his fourth ace but the first in competition at the Club. He celebrated in fine style after playing and followed this up by going to Twickenham to watch England take France apart in the Six Nations Championship. The winner on the day was Jeremy Redgewell with a fantastic 37 points, getting his handicap down to 5 as the CSS went up to 75 (3 over par). Runners-up were fellow 5 handicap members, Tony Brown and Grant Allen with 33 respectively. Congratulations to these three and everyone else who took up the challenge on Saturday and stayed out to complete their round!

Sport update… I`m sure many of you enjoyed the rugby, like Mark Oughton did on Sunday. It sets up a huge showdown in Cardiff Saturday week between the "old enemy" England and Wales quite nicely. Eddie Jones immediately started the mind games by expressing that this is Wales best ever team. C`mon Eddie, "Gats" and the boys know what you`re up to. It`s more the other way around and one of England’s best ever sides in many seasons. The game should decide the Championship winner. There would also add a further psychological edge as the teams look very likely to probably meet in the quarter finals at the World Cup in 8 months’ time. It will be not for the fainthearted that’s for sure. If you have nothing to do, set the alarm, settle in and get ready for a display of skill and courage from both sides. Phil Mickelson belied his age and showed what a talent he is. At 48 and desperate to win 50 Tour titles, the American won his fifth Pebble Beach event of his career. Three shots behind with a round to go which was delayed by bad weather, Lefty showed power and a deft touch to nip round in just 65 blows and end up winning by three. Can he win another Major? Wouldn`t that be amazing at 48 and get him that 50th title he covets. Augusta of course he loves and The US Open in June is back at Pebble. It will be different, firmer ground conditions and more rough is for sure. A bit of luck on his side and who knows?

Best looking irons ever? Wow. These irons are beautiful. Titleist irons always perform exceptionally well, both for the better player in the AP2 model as well as the AP3 iron for game-improvers. From 1st March 2019, there will be an extremely limited number of each set available in this gorgeous all-black finish. We know that it won't be for everyone's taste, but if you like the look of them as much as we do and want something that no-one else has, be sure to click on the button below and leave us a message. |

Sleek, lightweight and comfortable, the S10 GPS watch provides yardages to the front, back and middle of the green on over 41,000 courses worldwide, on top of hazards and doglegs, giving you all the key information you need to play better golf. |
| Garmin Approach G80 Device | Now this is something special. The Approach G80 is a handheld GPS device that gives you colour maps of every hole as well as key distances to greens and hazards. In addition, its integrated Launch Monitor not only tracks key data such as clubhead speed and estimated distance, but it comes with four game modes to enhance your practice time at the range. |
