Bolt on that Cup Kevin
Kevin Lazell got back to winning ways with a first class display in the Bolton Cup. A nett 69 saw him overcome the field by just one stroke. Runners up were Luke Quinton and Ian Isaac on nett 70 respectively. With perfect weather and numerous encouraging playing partners Kevin was able to maintain his good start to beat the field home. “I`ve been close to playing well for some time but it just wouldn`t stay with me for 18 holes, this time something went right and I`m really happy to come out on top. If I can keep playing like this I can get nearer to that single figure handicap I would like to have”
Talking of bolting on wins, how about Billy Shed-fulls? Better known as Billy Horschel? 4 weeks ago he was fighting to get through the early stages of the FedEx cup and nowhere near the Tour Championship, next thing but for a nervy 6 iron on the last he would have won the last three events on the PGA Tour! So 2nd, 1st, 1st gave the Florida Gator (that went down well in Georgia) just the 14.5 million dollars in three weeks which included the FedEx trophy and a bonus of 10 million dollars plus all the coke he can drink, perhaps I shouldn`t mention coke and The US Tour together?
I`m sure Tom Watson would like to review his picks for the Ryder Cup matches next week. No Woods, Horschel, or Kirk, what was he thinking? Beam him up Scotty! (no he`s an Aussie, can`t have him in the team either)
For the event I hope it`s fairly close, but I think Barack, your boys are going to get a hell of a beating.
And while we are on the subject of beatings, I think after all the toing and froing and TV talk is Scotland going to win the battle for Independence back? Are 300 years of history going to come to an end? Is Bonnie Prince Alex going to be wearing the Crown he so desperately craves come Friday morning? As that great David Beckham put it “what unites us is greater than what divides us”. David Cameron, The Queen, even David Miliband couldn`t have said it better. Where did he get that from?
As a member said to me, "I wonder if the English got the 'vote' for the Scots to leave would the result be so in the balance?" I kept very neutral coming from Wales.
Just arrived in the shop are my autumn/winter lines from Ashworth. With some lovely colours and styles there should be something for everyone. Not to be forgotten, some of the Ladies lines have arrived from Nike, and Glenmuir. Extremely warm and stylish, perfect for those chilly days we will get soon enough. With rainwear just around the corner from Sunderland and ProQuip we have just about everything you require to stay warm and dry whilst playing.
All the spaces are full up for next week’s Mizuno demo evening. If you would like to be on the reserve list for a place please click here to contact me, or visit us in the pro shop.
Don’t forget to enter people, it’s on October 7th just £140 per 4 ball team. Club members teams just £100. What an opportunity to play one of Essex`s finest courses for less than the green fee! It’s for a great cause, Breast Reconstruction Awareness. We all know someone who has suffered from this disease in some way, so if you can play or just donate to the cause it will go some way to improving people’s lives.
Someone said the football season has started. I looked and found Manchester United had only 2 points and tied last. Then all of a sudden they had five points after a 4-0 win against QPR. Normal service resumed at the Theatre of Dreams.
Any way the table can`t be right, I thought I saw Aston Villa in second?!
Can`t wait for next week, it’s all about the Englishman (Poulter,) Irishman (McGinley) and Scotsman (Gallacher)….
