Leslie Wood result The Orsett Leslie Wood team lost their quarter final match on Sunday in a thriller at Harwich versus Canons Brook. The Harlow side lead 3-2 at lunch, so there was everything to play for in the afternoon singles. The result was in the balance all afternoon with five matches going to the last hole which was a difficult 243 yard par 3, where anything could happen. Unfortunately for team Captain, Dave Chegwidden, his team never managed to win any of those last hole outcomes, halving four of them to lose by the smallest margin of 8.5-6.5. A thrilling match with the outcome in the balance all day. Well done to the team on such a strong performance this year. Like England, lots to build on for next season.
Lombard Trophy The 2017 Club Captain, Andy Lee and I graced the fairways of Walton Heath on Tuesday in the Lombard Trophy area final. Andy was the leading qualifier from April’s Scrutton Cup and has been waiting 3 months for the day. "What a fabulous place to play golf, David took me there last week for a practice round and the event itself plus an incredible lunch all for a £2.00 entry fee. One of the best places I`ve ever played at, all the history and amazing quality of the course, I`ll certainly try and qualify again next year."

Who will be the champion golfer?
The Open is now underway and it seems it will be very open this year giving so many players the chance to take the Claret Jug home. Carnoustie can throw up surprises and perhaps could stem the flow of American domination on the famous trophy. With the dry and fast running conditions, so many players are in the reckoning, with The European players who have plenty of links experience licking their lips with anticipation of a good week ahead. Of course Rory and Tommy Fleetwood will be strong contenders, but what about the likes of lesser names such as Paul Dunne, Shane Lowry, Russel Knox and Andy Sullivan? It should be exciting and may even throw out a surprise as it did in 1999. At least it will be difficult but fair unlike Shinnecock six weeks ago.

What a World Cup! As far as I can remember it was one of the best ever for attacking football! England excited the home fans with their performances lifting the mood of the nation, a friendly atmosphere for everyone attending, when many thought the contrary. Even VAR made a difference, it just needs tweaking. Worthy winners were France in the end, they got better as the Tournament proceeded. They had exciting young players like Mbappe, Varane and Pogba and they will be a force for many years to come. Alongside them, a fantastic Coach in Deschamps, it augers well for the future of French football.
With so many of the favoured sides going out early and others taking their chance to shine,(Croatia, Belgium, England & Russia),football is again a truly global game. It must be said though that for the third time in a row, the finals have been all European. Perhaps the South American footballing skills are rubbing off, but the European discipline isn`t being copied by those in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy The Open!

If you haven’t used a push trolley for a while then it’s definitely worth trying one in the not too distant future. In years gone by they were made of metal and were heavy to use, but that couldn’t be further from the truth with today’s lightweight options. |
Nice and easy This BIG MAX IQ+ 360 push trolley is a great option and tips the scales at just 6.3kg, which makes it easy to push so you remain full of energy to the last hole. As well as its lightweight frame, it boasts a 360-degree front wheel so you can steer it to any spot effortlessly (watch our video to see for yourself), plus a handbrake and a spacious console that has room for all of your valuables and accessories. This is just one of the trolley options we offer, so if you’re looking for something with more features or that folds smaller, why not pop by the store and check out our whole range? |
