Can a ball really help? If I were to ask if you could make one improvement to your game, what would it be? The truth be known, golfers would love to be more consistent. It's frustrating to play well one hole and follow it with a some golf that is hard to believe it's the same person playing! Yet if I were to empty every single persons golf bag out in front of them I doubt if the majority even have the same type of ball in the pocket. "Where's he heading with this?", I hear. The type of comments I often hear when I ask, "What ball do you play with?", especially mid and high handicappers, (who incidentally have consistency the least and crave it the most) are... "anything that's round" "the first thing out the pocket" "whatever I find" "as long as it's white!" Their is no coincidence that Bubba Watson's game has returned to the highest level since he went back to the ProV1. I'm not saying his Volvik was a bad ball, Bubba just thought he could take the "dollars and run" and let his talent carry an untried ball at the highest level. I'm also not saying everyone should use a ProV1, yet the ball is the only consistent piece of equipment used in every shot. The majority of low handicap golfers have settled on a prefered ball, even if it's not the "perfect"ball, it's a good start. Back to many of you. Empty out that ball pocket and start being consistent with the one thing you can control, the ball. This is often followed up with "what's the right ball for me then?" Of course this does depend on what you want from the feel of a ball and some research needs to be done. If you were to look their is so much information to guide ro miss-guide each person. If it's distance their are suitable balls for that, if it's more spin required their are balls that will increase that. However the best thing to do is to have a ball test on my launch monitor. We can check for spin and see if it suits your game. Only you the individual can judge the feel though. Click here to request your ball fitting and find out which is best for your game. So my advice is... 1. Together let's decide what you want from the ball, distance or spin 2 . Let me confirm or help you trust your decision Give yourself the best chance to be consistent and stick to the same ball. |
