Match Results
The highs and lows of team golf were evident as the ladies and gents suffered both wins and defeats in recent matches. Tracey Rooney and 13 year old, Ellie Redgewell won their first round tie against Thorpe hall in the Hunter Foursomes. The ladies Bronze team lost 7-0 away at Crondon Park, the Silver Team won 3-2 against Thorndon Park and the Harris Bowl team beat Woodford 4-1 in their latest match. Ladies team events are played on a league basis so one loss isn`t so bad. Well done the other teams, a good start to each campaign.
The Leslie Wood side had an awkward 2nd round tie at The Essex. It was 2.5 - 2.5 each at lunch "which could have been more in our favour "according to team Captain Kevin Lyons. We run out of steam in the afternoon losing the last 7 matches for a 10.5 - 4.5 defeat.
Mark White`s cadets however had a solid 4-1 win against an improving Boyce Hill side. They now control their group and destiny is in their own hands after back to back wins. Mark could even afford to "blood" 12 year old Harley Smith at reserve, such is the team strength at the moment. Congratulations to all the winning sides, keep up the good work.
Titleist National Fitting Day
For those who can't wait for our Titleist fitting day, why not be part of Titleist's National fitting day or afternoon in my case at Orsett.
Just contact me via the shop 01375891797 and book an appointment to be fitted for the Titleist range from the 716 irons, SM6 Vokey wedges and of course their 917 range of metal woods. This is all done with the GC2 launch monitor and software I have available.
Avoid delay, because, snooze you lose!
Wallsham delight for Darren
Darren Spencer has played consistently since he joined Orsett. Last weekend he shot his lowest competitive round with a 69(-3) amassing 42 points to win the Walsham Cup. The biggest field of the year took part would that be surpassed? Ever steady Matt King last year's Order of merit winner came up one point short with 41 and then fellow Thornton Cup squad member Carl Vanderhook, fresh from Las Vegas finished a further point back of that on 40. Everyone praised the course condition, credit to Perry and his staff.
PGA Tour
If you win, why not create a little history? As Si woo Kim, the South Korean (Or possibly Scottish, see you Jim) did last week at The Players, The PGA Tours flagship event in Sawgrass on their famed Stadium course. At 21, Kim became the youngest winner of the event on a course that gets reshaped it seems every few years, he mastered the rolypoly greens and the famed finish to play a bogey free round of 69, to win by 3 from Loius Ostehuizen and a revitalised Ian Poulter. Kim won a cool 1.89 million dollars for his efforts, nice work if you can get it!
Football
Back home Chelsea won the Premier league trophy away at WBA and then celebrated with a further home win against Watford. By far the best team in the Premiership this season, no not WBA, for consistency, style and with a manger who lives up to his Italian credentials of over excitement each time they score and go on to win.
