Silver team find it hard going
The Ladies Silver team had their first home match of the season against Chigwell, one of the stronger ladies County sides. It proved to be a difficult encounter and the Ladies went down 4-1.They have other matches yet to play so all is not yet lost for the team. Good luck in the future matches ladies.
Captain's Charity day

Perhaps behind most great men their needs to be a great woman, or so the song goes, but Rory McIlroy bucks the trend. Having publicly announced his split from his tennis star fiancée Caroline 'Wazengagedtorory', I`m sure there must be more to it than 'cold feet' just days after sending invites out. Perhaps the thought of eating the Danish delicacies of rollmops and herring for the rest of his life put him off, who knows? It didn’t stop the Ulsterman sneaking off with the PGA Championship at Wentworth. He now secures his Ryder Cup place and gets ever closer to Thomas Bjorn at the head of the Race to Dubai. Bjorn had bunker problems the last day after virtually birdieing the field into submission for three days it completely derailed the Dane and Rory nipped in to win.
Also at the Wentworth, Essex boy Mark Hooper played fabulous golf to finish tied 38th and the biggest cheque of his career so far. Congratulations to “Hooooops” in such a prestigious event.
Can`t go without mentioning “The Full filled Monty” and I`m not just talking about his waist size either! Colin Montgomerie finally got the Major monkey of that very big back of his and added to his glittering CV with the US Seniors PGA title in Michigan at the weekend .Monty definitely not one for the gym played brilliantly to keep awake for all four days in Bernhard Langer’s company (who needs the Minolta slow motion with him about) and beat the German Machine and American legend Tom 64 years young Watson who really does get better with age.
The Big Scot played with all the undoubted class and panache that won him his numerous Order of Merit titles. He even managed to keep a lid on that famous short fuse and bionic hearing of his. He is one of very few golfers to have ever heard a butterfly land on a nettle from 50 metres away (apparently)! I`m sure Monty will be the star of the seniors game both sides of the pond this season. Having one his first Major could Monty do the unthinkable and win the Senior Slam? It actually is possible. He and Langer are the Tours 'Mr Consistency’s', it was Langer who blinked first last week which will only fuel Monty further. You heard it here first readers.
