Augusta is upon us….
Here it is people, the first Professional major of the year and the World No1 isn`t competing! A withdrawal due to a dodgy back has left the event with more talking points than ever. I just hope Monty has overcome his stage fright sitting next to Jack, and Butch keeps both eyes on the golf and not Kirsty this year.
The winner's dinner menu is always selected by last year's winner, and Adam Scott has chosen well, Moreton Bay bugs! I know they are all "Celebrities", Goodonya Adam, but they are not going to get out of there being served those.
It`s such an important week in the golfing calendar, it literally starts everyone's season going. I have sent my top reporter Richie Wistow over to follow preceedings for the week. I had to throw in some much needed practice to tempt him on the plane, so not only is he going to Augusta, he will be playing a few games on some of the local courses too. He does have an allowance, and has been told not to frequent Hooters more than 3 times in the four days he is there. It could be detrimental to his eyesight amongst other things!
Next week we hope to have his views and experiences of the event, if he isn`t too overawed by Augusta, if can sneak his camera in, and if he makes his flight home Monday evening!
The draw for the sweepstake has now been done, pop in the shop and check out your player. Please make sure you are at the Club to witness the presentation to the sweepstake winner, it would be nice for the winner to receive the accolade of "lucky picker" in front of the members and the special guest presenter. Curious? Make sure you are there.
Tina`s on a mission…
Tina Gregory has been working hard on her game with me over the past few weeks. She has been gradually putting together a string of excellent performances, and her handicap reductions and have been steady.
She recently led the Silver sword event with 37 points winning on countback from Tina Arnold and Dawn Buttle. But without doubt, she saved her best golf for last Sunday by winning the Ladies Invite Men team event. She had a little help from Jason Mynett, James Irving and Graham McClean, but no doubting who was running the show. Congratulations to Tina, keep up the good work, especially from the bunkers!
Just in case you have not seen the latest offers, we are running the shoe trade in again. DRY JOY TOUR and DRYJOY CASUAL FOR MEN and DRYJOY for Ladies, with trade in, you receive £20.00 discount from the purchase.
CONTOUR and CONTOUR CASUAL for men and CONTOUR for the Ladies, get a £10.00 reduction when trading in an old pair, hopefully that will save confusion for everyone.
I have a two day event to play this week too! Alongside Clive Petitt, I`ll be playing at Hunstanton and Kings Lynn in the County of Norfolk. Clive is a great foursome partner to play with, I've been practising my penalty drops and plenty of bunker shots. Unfortunately he has a brilliant memory for someone his age, so best I play well! Will let you know the outcome next week.
I look forward to seeing more of you out on the course after next week
