79 years of hurt...never stop believing.
I`m sure the LTA will take full credit for last week's win in the Davis Cup. After 79 years of waiting since Fred Perry et al last won it, our World No 2 Andy Murray lead the GB and I side to a fantastic win in Belgium! Even though Murray honed his skills in Dunblane and then America. I'm sure the G and T brigade will enjoy the moment and reflect on a job well done. Yet talking to Murray himself he feels any time spent with them would be a "waste of his time and energy! "Perhaps they will sit up a little and learn from undoubtedly our best ever player and his ways which could lead others to tennis glory around the world. A great coo for all people Scottish though, with Andy's brother, Jamie a superb doubles player adding to the success. It's a great tribute to both, especially Andy putting much back into representing his nation in a chocca block schedule. Let's hope he continues to represent the team. Back to back wins would be a terrific achievement. The support for the team was huge and polite clapping between points is now a thing of the past with chanting and cheering right up to the last bounce before service now compulsory.
World Championship Fury…
Tyson Fury became the latest British World Boxing Champion with a resounding win over long time title holder Vladimir Klitschko. The past Champions team tried everything possible except the horse shoe in the glove trick to give their man a chance, a softer ring, dodgy taping, different gloves but nothing helped the aging champ. Fury won in style just like he said he would, which leaves him with a title unifier with Deaontay Wilder after the obligatory rematch against Klitschko. At last someone has wrestled the title away from the dull Klitschko and stands to improve (somehow) the heavyweight scene.
