Matthew Fitzpatrick claimed his maiden tour title at the British Masters held at Woburn. The 21year old 2013 US Amateur Champion, who was tied for the lead going into Sunday, produced a stunning run of 4 birdies in 7 holes on the back nine for a final round 68. This took him to -15 for the tournament and a win by two strokes.
He took Justin Rose's title for the youngest winner of the tournament and joins a winners' list which includes the likes of Lee Westwood, Monty and the great Ballesteros. The absence of the tournament for the past seven years has been noticeable; with the only tournament played on English soil being the BMW held at Wentworth every year.
Hopefully after good crowds and a stunning venue yet again, a couple more events will get placed in the calendar. A lot of people from Orsett made the trip to Woburn and had great experiences. Our very own Richie Wistow saw the final day's action and even managed to escape with a couple of photos to mark the occasion.
On the other side of the world, South Korea to be precise, we saw the Presidents Cup take place. In a thrilling battle, the contest was narrowly won by the American team 15 ½ to 14 ½. The internationals put up a great fight but were just pipped to the post. Fair play to the American team, while they weren't playing the might of Europe - at least they can now remember what it feels like to win a team event!
Rugby world cup
We saw one of the best matches of the tournament so far (maybe even ever) when Wales took on the Aussies. Although not a single try was scored, the match was fiercely contested between two of the tournaments best with Australia running out narrow winners.
Despite the noticeable absence of England, all the other home nations managed to get through the group stages and into the quarter finals. We wish them all the best and hopefully the Northern hemisphere can prevail against the giants of the Southern hemisphere.
Euros football
With the return of the British Masters, it seems only right to talk about the return of the Welsh and Northern Irish football teams to a major tournament. Having been absent for 57 and 30 years respectively, they will surely have a lot to prove at the European Championship. Wales signed off their qualifying programme with the destruction of mighty Andorra 2-0. It`s easy to see why they are ranked in the world's top 10.

Every year we travel to Harrogate for the golf trade show. And this year's show was as good as ever. With some very interesting gizmos and gadgets on offer and companies showing some seriously good products, 2016 will be a great year for golf and golfers.
