Modifications well under way….
Orsett’s strategy of maintaining its position as one of the best courses in the County is continuing. Having a bunker development programme in place for the next few seasons will keep the green staff extremely busy when unfortunately most courses are fighting back the tide. The plans are to make sure the course stands up to the modern game not just in the present but the future as well. The course understandably has some upheaval at this time of year but it will all be very much worth it as you can see from the pictures.
Changes have been made at the 16th, the cross bunkers, previously there was one single bunker to challenge the second shot and now a further bunker has been added to trap the mis-hit shot. All the bunkers on the hole have been reshaped and will be riveted in the traditional style. On the 17th the bunkers have been deepened and reshaped all along the hole with a low mound around the back of the green to enable some depth perception for the golfer. Again riveting will complete the bunkering along with some seriously deep soak away areas as this part of the course is sometimes wetter than the rest.
If you are looking for a Black Friday bargain, how about a Titleist 913 driver for £189.99! That`s £160 below the manufacturers recommended price! Two different heads, loft and shaft options while stock lasts! Along with the drivers we still have a few fairway £124.99 and hybrids £114.95 available as well, so it’s bargains all the way!
Coming in any day too will be the new Titleist 915 for you to try. Again head and shaft options to suit. We will be competitive as always on pricing so why not be the first to add distance to your drives with Titleist’s new offering (rumour has it a certain Mr Poulter is using it, it certainly looked like one in his bag last week)
Winter work
Winter golf can become a wonderland for more reasons than one. As expected at this time of year we are left with the not quite sane and the golfing hardcore and see a number of golfers disappear into hibernation. However, why don’t you look at this time as ‘you time.’ Spend a little time going over the season work out what was hot and what was not. What areas you feel might need improving or might even, dare I say it, a complete revamp. The winter is a perfect time to iron out these kinks and get the ball rolling towards a new season’s golf. You could head to the season fresh and raring to go rather than seeing it as a belated opportunity to burn off the last bits of Christmas turkey. We could all genuinely benefit from some sort of winter program to help us along with our golf and not put off preparing until pick wipe and place is no more. Why not book a lesson today or come and discuss what options you have for making those improvements over the winter. We are all here to help you see better scores and get more from our beloved game. There are bundles of options available from short game lessons to driving lessons (no L plates required), course lessons to video lessons. Whatever part or parts of your game you have identified that could do with a review we can accommodate you in improving.
Share one with a friend
We have recently seen the benefit of people sharing a lesson, and have found that the competitive edge that we all have certainly shows itself more against our greatest allies especially in teaching and learning. Tongue in cheek for most but this little bit of competitive edge between friends is not only a fun way to improve and learn but also can give you some anecdotal ammunition over the festive period.

The season finale` Tour Championship went down to the last hole again with Henrik Stenson showing everyone he still had enough “in the tank” to finally get a win for the season. Stenson, runner up the week before in Turkey retained his title he secured last season but it wasn`t enough to dislodge World player of the season Rory McIlroy from top spot of the Order of merit. Stenson admitted to have run out of gas and was looking forward to a nice long break from golf. Rory on the other hand tweeted some impressive pictures of himself in the gym lifting some pretty sizeable weights. The Irishman definitely wants to keep his No 1 place a top the World rankings and fitness is a huge part of the Ulsterman’s strive for further supremacy, especially as Mr T Woods has announced his latest coach, Chris Como (no relation to Perry apparently). If it all goes wrong you can see the headlines already…Chris OH NO or Chris Commotion, take your pick. If successful could it be…. Chris COMO’n join my stable.
Also how many of you have applied for the vacant position of caddie to Mr Adam Scott? If you haven`t done so you are already behind the 315 who have! Apparently Steve Williams has retired to try and spend his “hard-earned” from the last few seasons.
As predicated Gemma Collins lasted all of two days in the jungle. I thought she might have got at least one trial to do before she skipped off down the beach! Some are playing a great game, with some strong bonds being made in there. Not sure Foggy likes the idea of the “young Buck” having a better body than him. At least we have an American (Kendra, the ex-Playboy bunny) in it who once again is really irritating some of the elder campers. Jimmy Bullard has improved his chances of being King of the Jungle. He seems to be embracing the whole thing. Keep watching people it’s bound to get a little more entertaining in the last few days. More Bush tucker eating trials and less pampering required. I think the producers have gone soft on the contestants.
