Rahm roars in the Bahamas Tiger’s end of season Hero Challenge had all sorts of connotations to it this year. Could Justin Rose regain the World No1 spot, could Tiger improve his own world ranking and win "his" event again? In the end neither happened as Jon Rahm cruised to a final round bogey free 65. With a round to go, Rahm, Stenson and Finau were all tied for the lead but no one could live with Rahm’s 65, except Rose who was too far back to win but could recapture the world’s top spot only to miss from 12 feet on the last and then to have it rubbed in as Tony Finau holed the same putt he missed to stop the Englishman gaining the right to be called "the best" going into 2019. Finau moved up to an impressive 3rd in the rankings behind Rose and Koepka and surely has enough experience to take him to the next level and be a Major winner as his game is certainly good enough. Rose has been so consistent all year and proved again he will be a favourite every time he tees it up. Rahm just did what he does best and just made so many birdies, the Spaniard had the resolve and determination to get the win. In such a short career, he is proving to be a formidable player, streaky but formidable and will be talked about as an obvious Major contender.
What about Tiger? He put on a great event as the host but what about that moment in the second round under the bush with a very dubious shot attempted? It looked to me as though it was illegal and more than one strike in the same motion, yet the great man insisted he only felt one hit. To me the type of shot and the change of club face position might tell another story and with the referee explaining that slow motion technology can no longer be considered, after the Lexi Thompson issue, means to me that he may well have hit it more than once! Maybe Brooks Koepka with two Majors, Franky Molinari winning The Open, Georgia Hall winning The Ladies British Open or maybe someone completely different? Let me know here.
