A. Leicester City beating Liverpool 3-1 just 4 days after sacking manager Claudio Ranieri!
B. Italy leading England in the 6 nations at half time.
C. Brian Cullanen and his briefcase giving out the wrong envelope for best film nomination at the Oscars.
The winner is... Leicester City.
How can they go from the worst form in the league for 3 months to comfortable winners even if it was against an inconsistent Liverpool team? It's just amazing how the players respond to the manager getting the shove as he did.
Someone has to be the fall guy and he possibly deserved it and it's difficult to sack 25 players in the middle of the season but they should offer their wages back for their dreadful performances so far.
Ranieri will get another job no doubt. The Tinker man may have been too loyal to the players but it was he that had to fall on his sword. It's a shameful old game sometimes.
6 Nations wonderment...
Aussie, Eddie Jones, England's Head Coach looks like he`s turned into a Whinging Pom! To complain about Italy's innovative tactics on Saturday was childish, all because his team didn`t understand how to overcome it even asking the ref for help, who then delivered the quote of the weekend... "I'm a ref not a coach"
It was comical to see the England side looking so confused, especially, Captain, Dylan Hartley, (more like Dylan from Magic Roundabout) at Italy surrounding the ball rather than attempting to play it on the floor. The Italian coaches, O'Shea, Ventner and Catt were enjoying the problems they set. Like they wanted a further hammering we all assumed they would receive at England's hands! Halftime came and we saw England come to terms with the Italian strategy. They are looking good for the Grand Slam.
Next up is revitalised Scotland, winners over Wales. England are at home and should have more than enough for a 15 point plus margin. It could all be set up for Dublin a week later for a Championship decider. Eddie just might have something to whinge about after that one...
Field is strong for Mexico...
Picking a winner is getting harder on the PGA Tour. This week it's the first WGC event in Mexico. All the big hitters are flexing muscles at this one and a welcome return to the course for Rory who has missed 7 weeks with a rib injury. The only "Face" not there is the biggest, if not the best, in Tiger Woods, It`s a great opportunity to see who has their game in order compared to the others. My choices for the week are Henrik Stenson, the big Swede likes the big occasion and this is his first chance to prove his form and Rafa Cabrera Bello, likes Bermuda grass, controls his ball in the wind and is on the peripheral of all things good. This could be his moment to arrive!
Oscar Jacobson spring range has arrived.
With some different colours to the rest of the industry (typically Swedish) we are in the midst of moving out of our winter ensemble into these. OJ has a great name in the industry with quality products behind the brand. Found in high end retailers such as Harrods tells you all you need to know about the quality. Take a look when you're in next time, I think you will be impressed.
Masters sweepstake is out...
£5.00 a pick gets a player in this year's Masters field. As always, loads of ways to win even if you pick an outsider. Rickie Fowler is timing his run perfectly after winning on the opening leg of the Florida swing. For Augusta. Could he be your pick? Avoid delaying because it's a short field as Majors go and the players will go quickly.
Balls complete with personalising is just around the corner. Keep a look out for our shop adverts on this, it is coming very soon.
Don`t forget to try that new grip on your 7 iron. I have seen some pretty grim looking handles so far. I`m surprised they could even hold onto the club no matter what the weather!
Competitions are under way...
With February drawing to a close, the Orsett Major Competition calendar has opened with the qualifying for the Spring/Summer match plays starting. Last week, top of the tree, qualifying for the Craig Cup was Martin Williams with a 4 up score. Right behind him were Simon Smith, Dave Pearton, Ian Isaac and Brad Jennings. The top 32 are now in the knockout stages to be played over the season. Next week is the Radin Trophy, more next week.
Proposed rules changes ready for viewing...
As mentioned at the recent rules night there are some amazing proposed changes to the rules. Here's the link to take a look at them, see what you think, they are for the good of the game and hopefully help to speed things up as well as SIMPLIFY much of the disputed areas we play under.
