He first orders a lager for himself and then stands perfectly still for 5 seconds, the barman asks
"why the big pause?"
He replies "it helps my downswing!"
Ok, really corny but this is something many of you might want to try this winter. Apart from alignment to the target the change of direction in the swing is probably the most difficult to master. HSBC winner, Hideki Matsuyama has mastered that difficult skill but taken it to the extreme. He comes to a dead stop at the end of his back swing before starting back down in the correct sequence toward the ball and on to a full balanced follow through. Many of you who have problems making a good contact may be losing your sequence (some may be losing sequins too) which won`t allow a solid strike. The pause, rather than a "rush" from the top with the hands will give you a chance to shift and unwind from the feet up allowing the arms to swing through uninhibited to that graceful balanced finish that is seen on so many top players today.
Give it a go, if you need help get in touch the usual ways, that drill could be the answer to your golfing problem.
Rob gets his first reward... Rob Newman recently invested time on our GC2 machine and updated Mizuno DNA fitting system. He played with his new Mizuno irons for only the 4th time and won the Centenary Foursomes trophy alongside
Max Dixon. Now it can`t all be down to the new irons but some of it most certainly is. The confidence and trust they in still only helped. Not only does he get his name on the honours board but the winners voucher helps to offset the cost of the irons. Nice going
Rob.
Next week we will be starting our traditional Christmas draw. Always worth a ticket or two, ask
Scott Hillion who won last year and enjoyed a great day out with 3 friends at Porters Park for the day. We now have more demo clubs from Titleist to try in the
917 range so along with those the
JPX 900 Mizuno irons and the
PING iBlade there are fantastic products on the market if you are looking.
This month too, a little promotion for you all, buy a Motocaddy M1 lithium trolley and buy a Pro series bag 30% OFF our shop price!
Should we be mentioning the concerns of Tour players going to Turkey or is it just an excuse to reduce their schedule? Panic around the Olympics was over hyped and now many top European players aren`t going to the all-important Turkish Airlines event. I know golf is a selfish game but the bigger picture might need to be reviewed by some. No
Rory or
Henrik, only 3 players from the top 10 race to Dubai in the field, perhaps their loyalties lie on another continent?
Mentioning the sequins, how the heck is
Ed Balls still on Strictly? Bad enough at the day job he should have been first to go over a month back. To go along with Strictly voting, X Factor has now got the perfect title with the "wrapper" yes spelt correctly
Honey G. She in fact gives it an X rating for watch-ability and should be, herself wrapped and dumped ASAP.
OMG Simon Cowell! Can't you get her out of there with a rigged vote? The programme is bad enough but she has flat lined it totally.
Another X rated event about to happen and will affect our lives, The American Presidential election, enough muck has been thrown and words said to create a great comedy. If it wasn`t so important it might be funny! Next week we will know who with become the most "powerful" person on the planet.
