SClub Tour hits all the right notes...
I've been on and arranged numerous trips for members but I doubt if too many beat the organisation and entertainment of the recent SClub 46 tour to France. Organised by Howard Smith, he of his recent first ever hole in one and aided by Ash Mahmood, 50 members had the perfect conditions for great golf and even better socialising. Fine Master, Roger Burder was in great form collecting nearly £500.00 for the Captains Charity from the group for misdemeanours and other unsavoury issues of which cannot be broadcast in this newsletter, as is widely known "what goes on tour most definitely stays on Tour".....
EXCEPT for the following...
Shaun Patient unable to find the hotel he was staying in for 2 hours (it was less than a 3 minute walk away).
Dennis Mayes, who decided to get a close up of the room carpet and damaged his nose, John Cork won best dressed golfer and didn't get fined for not wearing his pin.
And of course song leader and athlete extraordinaire Jon Berry who was anyone's and everyone`s drinking buddy for the whole trip.
Winners on the trip were rookies. Michael Lilley (who had been practicing in Portugal the week before), 2nd Jason Spink and 3rd, Trip regular, John Maulkerson.
Everyone is already awaiting news on next year's trip.
Steve overjoyed as he shines…
Steve Shiner "had the round of his golf career "last weekend in the Joyes trophy... A Jason Day like round of 45 points off 7 handicap with a double bogey saw off all challengers.
"It was a great thrill to play so well, of course I had some luck but on the whole it really couldn`t have gone much better. Just don`t know how I made a double up the 16th?"
Steve has the honour of moving the trophy to the other end of the mantel piece, as son Jack won it last year.
Leslie Wood.... tight encounter
Orsett Leslie Wood team squeezed through 8. 5/6. 5 last weekend in the second round at home to play golf Colchester. In ideal golf conditions Andy Lee's team, were 3/2 down at lunch, but an early rally from the top of the team brought matters under control? Well done to Pete Twigg and Jason Mynett for contributing 2 points each. Big afternoon wins came from vice-Captain, Steve Rosendale (6/5), Barry Piddington (5/4) and Jeremy Redgewell (5/4), fresh from his win on the Amateur Back in black Tour.
Andy was delighted to get the win,
"Always difficult the first game but we just got on with it and played some great golf when it was needed. I'm looking forward to the next round at Forresters Park in a few weeks' time."
It's Thornton Cup matches in a couple of weeks and with the likes of Will Percival who came a very good 11th in the recent Essex Open which included the cream of Essex PGA on 2 over par, Orsett are "up" for the game at Stockbrook Manor.
Every day is Jason's … right now.
World No 1 Jason Day showed he is in another class to everybody at the moment with just a fabulous display of skill, touch and power that no one has shown since Tiger Woods, remember him? 16 years ago. The Aussie is technically so good does he ever look like he can hit a bad shot? Along with the soft touch required to be that good and a mind of iron who can surpass him, and the harder they try the more mistakes they all make. Day is just too good at the moment and his obliteration of such a good course last week at the Players, "the Fifth Major" just goes to prove he has everything needed to remain firmly at the top of the tree. Rory and Jordan are playing second fiddle and the rest, well they are behind them. Day is great to watch, routine, set up, technique, the only way to stop him might be to dig the greens up…
Mizuno demo day nearly full...
With just a few weeks until our next demo day fitting appointments are nearly full. Please contact me as soon as possible if you would like one of the final sessions. We will make a reserve list too for last minute changes but be quick, these are great opportunities to see even more of the product than I carry me use on my DNA fitting cart. You snooze you lose.
Thanks to all those who took up the battery exchange recently, I hope you are enjoying the benefits of the lithium product over those heavy old lead batteries you once used?
If this is something you may want to invest in come and talk to us about why that £200.00 is worth spending and how the benefits are so good for you and your trolley.
Many of you like a bargain and right up to the US Open we are giving you a chance to get another from our store. Mizuno all weather gloves, singularly are just £7.99, BUY 3 and get them for just £20.00.
With the weather warming up a good hold of the club is essential for good ball striking and tatty, dried up gloves will not help. So take a look when you're in, they are great quality, nothing feels like a Mizuno.
