Scott's off to Hertfordshire...
Scott Hillion flew back from Aberdeen when he was told he had won the draw. Sadly it wasn`t the £66 million from this weekend's lottery but our own Christmas draw.
He now faces the very tricky task of choosing his three playing partners (probably only two as his Dad has threatened to disown him if he misses out) to spend the day at the wonderful Porters Park, near Radlett in Hertfordshire sometime this year. Scott has been a member for many years and had never won any of the "draws" at the Club.
Well that has all changed for him. I'm sure he will have a brilliant time around another Open Qualifying course, known for their lightning fast greens.
Congratulations Scott, have a great time playing there.
If you think we have been unlucky with missing out recently with golf take a look at these photos. This is Paul Lawrie's Golf Centre in Aberdeen doubt very much if they will be using it much before April! Also how about the damage to Peterculter golf club? Parts of the course have literally been washed away. So try not to be too upset if we have the odd hole closed or whole course occasionally for the day. I think the Peterculter Head greenkeeper, Pat Rafter and assistant Stewart Cink have their work cut out for a while, don't you?
And so it continues…
That is, Jordan Spieth and winning ways. The master blaster from Texas blew the field away in the Tournament of Champions opening event of the 2016 year with just a little 8 shot victory. Spieth never looks any different and it's hard to tell if he is 8 under or 5 over (is he ever 5 over??)He has already put the marker down for Rory et al. Catch me if you can boys!
He really is most definitely the real deal.
Give your equipment some consideration...
Those shoes with cleats missing or worn to flat are dangerous to your health on the wet paths (aren`t they Billy Malpas?)
Get them renewed and give yourself a chance to keep your footing while swinging. Also consider cleaning them regularly between holes .The cleats do clog up more easily with the sticky ground causing balance and stability to become difficult.
It may be a good time to change those hardened, shiny grips as well. The cooler temperatures make it more likely to have to grip tighter to an old worn grip. We are happy to fit them and get them back to you in 24 hours (stock permitting) and if you have 10 or more fitted we will add one free!
For the regular players out there, grips should be changed every six to eight months to give that secure hold without strangling the club. So don`t delay, the weather isn`t great so this allows us to get them changed and back in time for the new seasons events.
We already have some of our new product arrived for 2016. FootJoy shoes, Titleist bags are first to arrive, many others will be following so keep a look out on both the newsletter and directly in the shop. Remember, you can get a feel of the shop from my website. Take a visit and see for yourself. Have a good week, stay warm and if you can, carry your clubs and help your green staff.
