That's Entertainment…
The annual Children's Christmas party took place last weekend and what a party, if you were an under 10! What with great food, "AJ", the amazing entertainer... yes he was that good people and of course our famous celebrity guest, Father Christmas.
What a brilliant event Lady Captain, Sue Mason organised for our future members. Around 70 children were kept highly amused and entertained for 3 hours with AJs humour, games, magic and balloons, Santa had a lot to live up to after that!!
Amongst it all, I`m pleased to say my team won, trailing behind us, among others, were "Tina's Angels" in the Christmas wrapping game ,turning our team into a paper "snowman". Last time I saw so much toilet paper being unwound so quickly was after a BBQ in Africa 25 years ago!
Every child, young or younger left very happy with their present. No wonder we wish it could be Christmas every day, don`t we Howard?
Anyone recognise AJs assistant? Amazing colour to his hair, I personally think it might not be real but what do you think? Having a midlife crisis maybe?
Club Member, Dan Clark who had been attending the childrens party with his family had found out AJ was running the London Marathon. With no more thought he encouraged the members to support AJ and in litterally 10 minutes had raised £300.00 for his chosen charity. A wonderful idea and brilliant effort, congrats Dan and all the members who contributed, typically Orsett.
Everything turning Golding, ask Steve.
Steve Golding has been on a great run recently with his golf bets. This weekend both came in with Jamie Donaldson blitzing the field in Thailand giving the Welshman that all important place in next year's Open at Troon and edging back toward the important top 50 of the world rankings for all the "big" events. His other win was on the Franklyn Templeton, pairs event in Florida, a season ending jolly for the PGA Tour. Steve backed Dufner and Snedeker, who sneaked in by a single shot from Kuchar and English. So if you have any doubts for next season's majors, just ask Steve.
Euro clash for Chris and Roy…
Wales manager, Chris Coleman couldn`t hide delight in drawing England in the 2016 Euro Championship next summer in France. The whole of England and Wales will no doubt come to a standstill on June 16th at 2pm for 2 hours next year when this game takes place. It's the first time for 58 years Wales have qualified for a major football tournament and to get drawn against England is pretty neat. I mean at least there will be one world class player on the pitch! Can England contain him or will Gareth Bale cause havoc, it will be a great watch either way. So a win double beckons, the Six Nations and at least a last 16 qualifying spot for Wales, although it looks nearly impossible to not get to the last 16. Northern Ireland have got a tough draw with Germany and Poland and the Republic of Ireland have the group of death, with Sweden, Italy and World ranked No 1 Belgium. All this going on and it`s US Open week in the golf. Looks like it going to be a hectic year.
SO Leicester City are the real deal. With yet another win over highly rated but lowly positioned Chelsea they sit proudly on top of the Premier league. Chelsea's superstars need to take a good look at themselves but with a little bit of luck they should stave off relegation. Mind you the Chelsea Facebook supporters have mysteriously gone very quiet this season. One man more than most in Leicester must be loving it at the moment, no not the goal scoring Jamie Vardy but Claudio Ranieri. The Tinkerman hasn`t tinkered with this team but just got them and the fans really enjoying the football and the results have been produced. A breathe of fresh air in a dreary Premier league season.
Follow that with The Open and US Open and sandwiched between these is the Olympics. If you haven`t got two TVs you might just think to get one for Christmas, you are going to need it!
Anyone notice that a Dubliner called Conor McGregor won a UFC World Title in less than 15 seconds at the weekend. He knocked out his opponent Jose Aldo, undefeated for 10 years in 13 seconds with a solitary punch. Martin O`Neil could do with him at the back, it could change the meaning of "group of death".
We are into the final run if you would like to enter our Christmas draw (which will probably happen on New Year's Eve) It`s well worth entering with loads of great treats for the winning tickets.
We still can offer those last few Christmas presents, many thanks to all of you who have spread the gospel about our store.
This is the last newsletter for the year, many thanks to those of you who have contributed, allowed pictures to go in and above all supported me throughout the season.
Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year and keep enjoying your golf. Remember Andy, Richie and I are here for you and your game.
