Festivities begin at Orsett.

Not sure which one was actually Santa but the business ladies came out in style considering the conditions on Saturday for their Christmas Greensomes event. All had to wear themed headwear and who knows what they had in the thermos?

All who played really enjoyed themselves both on the course and over lunch afterwards.


 

First tee close to completion

The new first tee is looking impressive. The steps have now been positioned and virtually all the turf added so it just needs to get bedded in before play can commence. "So just as the season starts in late February" according to Head Green Keeper, Perry, "it should be perfect."

   

Just a few finishing touches around the dry flower bed and pathway to go and it will be outstanding giving that all important wow factor to the introduction onto the course.

Alongside it the practice bunkers have been revamped to look and will play just like the course bunkers. So no excuses people, you should all be master bunker technicians by the end of April!




You don`t think custom fitting is important?

Last week's winner of Tigers charity, benevolent event, The Hero World Challenge, Bubba Watson must even have his grips on a certain way. Not just the actual size of the grips but how many tapes , 10 around the "top" and 12 around the "bottom" of the grip and they must be put on 10 degrees open to the club face itself. Is this the secret to his immense distance and incredible shot making? It certainly gives Bubba the feel in his hands to use that creative side he of his.

Not only does he have that pink driver which is super-duper extra stiff, it's tipped by half an inch to make it even stiffer!

His new putter has only 2 degrees of loft on. This is because he never sets up with his hands forward of the putter face and keeps his stroke, hands free. For a tall man, 6 foot 3, his putter is only 34.5 inches long, but he has ridiculously long arms.
